Tips for Getting the Best Appraisal

Free Appraisal FAQs

Do I have to pay for an appraisal?

No. Appraisals at Cedar Post Pawn are free. There is no charge for us to look at your item and provide a value estimate.

Do I have to pawn or sell my item after the appraisal?

No. Our appraisals are no-obligation. We’ll explain what we think your item is worth and what we could offer, and you decide what to do.

Do I need an appointment for an appraisal?

No appointment is required. Just stop by during our regular business hours. If you have several items or large items, you may want to call ahead so we can plan for extra time.

How long does a typical appraisal take?

Most simple appraisals take only a few minutes. More complex items, collections, or multiple pieces may take longer.

Will you give me a written appraisal?

We can provide a written quote or note for in-store purposes, but our appraisals are designed for pawn and resale decisions, not for formal insurance or legal valuation. If you need a certified appraisal, we recommend consulting a licensed appraiser.

Can you appraise items from photos or over the phone?

We can often give a rough idea based on photos or a description, but we can’t provide a firm appraisal or offer until we see and inspect the item in person.

Do you report my appraisal to anyone?

Simply asking for an appraisal is not reported. If you complete a pawn or sale, the transaction details are recorded and reported to law enforcement databases as required by Utah law.
